On the evening of September 28th, Chinese Ambassador to India Luo Zhaohui and his wife Dr. Jiang Yili hold National Day Reception at the Chinese embassy in celebration of the 69th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

H.E. V.K. Singh, Minister of State of the Ministry of External Affairs of India, attended the receptionas Chief Guest. Around 700 guests including parliamentarians, officials, scholars, entrepreneurs, journalists, foreign envoys to India, and all diplomats of the Chinese embassy were present.

Raising a toast to the evening, Lao Zhaohui said, “It is a great honour for me to host today’s function. Since 1949, China has made tremendous progress in economic and social development. We adhere to the strong leadership of the Chinese communist party and the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics. We also keep our door open to the world.”

Speaking on Indo-China friendship, the ambassador recalled his visit to Amritsar, and said, “On my way to Golden Temple in Amritsar last month, I visited Dr Kotnis Memorial Acupuncture Hospital.

I was deeply impressed that in such a remote area, a hospital is named after Dr Kotnis. The hospital has also been promoting acupuncture, a traditional Chinese medical treatment. It shows the profound basis of our friendship.”

The speech was followed by various dance performances on Chinese songs, Hindi songs like 'Awaara Hoon' and 'Ghoomar', a martial art act and ballet.
